About Me
Growing up in Montana as a fourth generation farmer near the border of Canada just happens to be the best background available for a pickler. My great grandmother helped her husband farm the homestead, and she also created the best family pickle recipe ever created (in my opinion). I grew up learning this recipe; actually, I learned the whole technique. From getting the 50lbs of cucumbers from the neighboring Hutterite Colony to learning how to put “a pinch of this and a sprig of this” to make the perfect pickles, I learned it all.
My family of six would set aside a whole day in the summer for pickling, and those pickles would last us the whole year. I still remember having that whole month of anxiousness while waiting for our cucumbers to pickle; what a childhood! My hope for this site is that you get the same enjoyment as I had growing up on the farm, enjoying delicious pickled goods. From tweaking the recipe “just to see what happens.” to adding anything you can think of to add that extra special something! With an open mind, and a little guidance, you can pickle anything! Enjoy.
